Men's Tennis sweeps Berea (Ky.) 9-0 in first match at OAC Tennis Fest

BEREA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team began its four-match schedule at the 2016 OAC Tennis Fest with a 9-0 sweep of non-conference foe Berea (Ky.) on Friday evening at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-10 overall, while the Mountaineers fall to 0-11.
Senior John Mostowy and freshman Tim Kargl led Ohio Northern with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles and a win at No. 1 doubles.
Mostowy won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Kargl won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and the pair combined to win 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman David Hayman won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, freshman Jacob Abbott won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, sophomore Nate Knodel won a tight 4-6, 7-6(3), 10-6 victory at No. 5 singles and freshman Lance Brown won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Junior Alex Genbauffe and Hayman won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and junior Dan Warren and Abbott won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
The Polar Bears will play OAC foe Muskingum at 8 am on Saturday morning at the Lindner Tennis Center nd will then travel to play at Mount Saint Joseph at 2 pm Saturday afternoon.
