Swimming & Diving teams to add new underwater camera to assist with training
By Tim Glon
ADA — The Ohio Northern University swimming and diving teams will be incorporating underwater cameras to aid in training for the 2015-16 season.
The Polar Bear, under 12th-year head coach Peggy Ewald, will use the technology donated by CCTV Camera World to evaluate its swimmers and fine tune the underwater aspect of swimming.
"We care about the safety of all students and visitors, and technology is making a huge impact on making our pools as safe as possible for everyone," Ewald said. "Safety will always be our number one concern and the article, Using Security Cameras for Pool Safety, really highlights these safety concerns. We have taken these concerns for safety in mind and decided to we are incorporating a new underwater camera to our pool.
"In addition to improving safety this submersible camera will be beneficial for the athletic growth of our students when it comes to perfecting their technique. It is vital for swimmers to be able to study their technique by watching themselves in action, and as a result improve their technique and speed. Along with our varsity teams, we also plan to use this device in our very popular summer camps."
