COLUMBUS — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw Saturday at Capital. The tie moves the Polar Bears to 12-4-2 overall and 4-2-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Crusaders now own a 7-4-4 overall mark and are 4-2-1 in conference play.
Sophomore Craig Bond (Oxford/Talawanda) netted the first goal for the Polar Bears. He took it in himself in the 81st minute, which leveled the contest at 1-1.
Senior Noah Bachwitz (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville North) scored an equalizer, as well. He knotted the game at 2-2, unassisted, in the 89th minute, which eventually forced the overtime sessions.
Capital's Mujahid Abdel-Ghani provided the game's first goal, as he scored, unassisted, in 67th minute. Trevor Collins put the Crusaders back ahead, unassisted, in the 86th minute.
ONU sophomore goaltender John Lombardo (Solon) made three saves. The Polar Bears registered 17 shots on the night, seven of which were on target. The Crusaders recorded 11 shots, five of which were on frame.
The Polar Bears return home and host Otterbein Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Kerscher Stadium.
