NEW CONCORD — Senior Ben Gawronski (Dublin/Scioto) and sophomore Sebastian Michaud (Springboro) each scored four goals Saturday afternoon as the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team defeated Muskingum 18-6 at North Turf Field.
With the win, the Polar Bears improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, and the Muskies fall to 6-5, 0-3.
Freshman Nate Jablonski (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) added three goals and an assist, and sophomore John Lynn (Cincinnati/Sycamore) tallied a team-high three assists.
ONU held a 7-4 lead with 4:58 remaining in the first half.
The Polar Bears used a 7-0 run to take a 14-4 lead with 2:56 to go in the third quarter en route to the victory.
Junior goalkeeper Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) improved to 7-2, allowing six goals on 10 shots, with four saves.
ONU won the ground ball battle 68-42 and out-shot MU 64-20.
The 68 ground balls broke the previous school record of 65 that the team tallied in its 23-0 victory over Wilmington on Wednesday.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Wednesday at Otterbein at 7 p.m.
