Sophomore Rick Deichert earns All-Conference honors to lead Men's Golf at 2014 OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Sophomore Rick Deichert earned All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team at the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships Friday-Sunday at River Greens Golf Course.

The Polar Bears finish their season with a 37-51-2 overall record after finishing sixth out of eight teams with a 72-hole total of 314-316-309-311—1250.

Deichert tied for eighth out of 40 golfers with a 78-79-76-75—308.

The teams played 27 holes on Friday and 27 more on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.

The top 10 players and ties at the end of the tournament on Sunday receive All-OAC accolades.

Deichert earned All-OAC honors with a fifth place finish a year ago.

Sophomore Brandon Lambert tied for 11th with a 77-81-78-75—311, freshman Tyler Davis tied for 13th with a 78-77-79-79—313, freshman Blaine Ricketts tied for 23rd with an 82-79-76-83—320 and junior Ted Loewendick was 35th with an 81-81-88-82—332 for ONU.

Baldwin Wallace won the team title by one stroke, and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament, with a 303-305-306-315—1229. Otterbein was second with a 307-304-309-310—1230, Capital was third with a 309-312-311-307—1239 and John Carroll was fourth with a 312-309-313-311--1245.

Adam Sanders of Baldwin Wallace defeated John Carroll's Casey Vancil in a playoff to win Medalist honors.
