Saturday's Contest: Saturday's game is the eighth game of the season and the fifth road contest of the year for Ohio Northern. Northern is looking to get back to the .500 mark with a victory.
ONU Head Coach Dean Paul: Paul in his 13th season at ONU with an 87-44 record. He is 127-56 in 17 seasons overall and is 11-1 against MC.
MC head coach Andy Waddle: Waddle is in his fourth season at MC with a 7-30 record. He is 0-3 against Ohio Northern.
Last Year's Meeting: It was a career night for several Ohio Northern football players, as ONU rolled to a 62-21 victory over Marietta on Halloween Night in Ada. RB Justin Magazine ran 24 times for a career-high 200 yards and a TD and WR Devon Price caught 10 passes for a career-high 182 yards and three TDs, but QB Ricardo Johnson may have had the biggest night of all for the ONU offense. Johnson completed 13-of-19 passes for a career-high 235 yards and 3 TDs and ran 10 times for as career-high 106 yards and 3 more TDs. In all, Johnson accounted for 341 yards and 6 TDs. On defense, LB Trent Stout had a career-high 18 tackles and senior Justin Tello had a career-high 13 tackles for ONU. The Polar Bears would score on 10 of their first 11 possessions, amassing 618 yards of total offense on the night.
ONU Last Week: Ohio Northern celebrated its Homecoming Weekend with a 44-3 victory over Muskingum in Ada. The Polar Bears dominated from the outset, leading 14-0 after the first period and 31-3 at halftime. Senior TE Logan Ray caught 8 passes for 86 yards and 3 TDs and sophomore K Joe French set a school single-season record with 11 field goals on the year to lead Ohio Northern. French also tied the ONU single-game record with three made field goals in the game, which is the third time this season he has accomplished the feat. Sophomore QB Will Freed completed 23-of-36 passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns and freshman RB David Haseleu ran 17 times for 84 yards in his first career start for ONU. Senior S Dan Eller led the ONU defense with nine tackles and an interception. Ohio Northern out-gained Muskingum 364-207 in total offense and held the ball for 35:15 in the game.
ONU Leaders: The ONU running game is led by freshman RB Christiaan Williams (132 att, 773 yards, 6 TDs) and freshman RB David Haseleu (29 att, 148 yards, 2 TDs). Sophomore QB Will Freed has completed 141-of-250 passes for 1,641 yards and 13 TDs. Senior WR Reed Allen (30 rec, 418 yards, 3 TDs), sophomore WR Chad Rex (28 rec., 238 yards, 3 TDs) and freshman RB Christiaan Williams (25 rec., 230 yards) lead the ONU receivers. Senior S Dan Eller, junior LB Zach Schmerge and junior S Jason Lucas lead the defense with 64, 64 and 47 tackles, respectively. Senior DL Scott Rapps leads the team with 5.0 sacks and 11.5 Tackles For Loss.
MC Last Week: Four first half turnovers proved costly as Marietta dropped a 41-28 decision at Heidelberg. MC had 461 yards of total offense, including a career-high 265 on the ground from RB Roger Walker. Walker carried the ball 34 times, also a career-high, and scored 3 TDs. It was the fourth straight game he has rushed for more than 100 yards. However, 4 turnovers and a missed field goal helped Heidelberg grab a 34-0 halftime lead.
MC Leaders: The MC running game is led this season by RB Roger Walker (121 att., 782 yards, 6 TDs) and RB Nick O'Neill (46 att, 175 yards, 4 TDs).
