ADA — The Ohio Northern baseball team fell in both games of an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader to Otterbein on Tuesday afternoon at Wander Field.
The Polar Bears fall to 11-15 overall and are 2-6 in the OAC after dropping 6-3 and 10-4 decisions to the Cardinals (17-8, 6-2).
Freshman Ethan Spears (Oregon/Clay) led four ONU batters with three hits on the day, going 3-for-7 with a home run.
Th Game 1, Spears singled home senior Chayten Overholt (Delphos/Lincolnview) and freshman Sam Harrison (Perrysburg/Saint Francis deSales) hit a sac fly to score Overholt to give ONU a 3-1 lead after four innings.
But OU would score twice in the seventh to tie the game at 3-3 and get three more in the eighth to take a 6-3 lead.
In the nightcap, Northern got an RBI single from senior Nate Webb (Bath, Ind./Union County) and a 2-run home run from junior Jacob Wenning (Coldwater) to score three times in the third to grab a 3-0 lead.
Again Otterbein battled back, scoring twice in the fourth, four times in the sixth and three times in the seventh to go ahead 9-4.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday when they host Muskingum in an OAC double header at 1 pm at Wander Field.
