Former Ohio Northern coach and director of athletics Marv English was inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Hall of Fame in June of 1981.
English graduated from ONU in 1941 and served as head coach for the men's basketball and baseball teams and was an assistant football coach at his alma mater.
He was also an assistant athletics director for 16 years and the director of athletics for 15 years prior to his retirement in 1980.
As head baseball coach, he compiled a 103-101 record from 1950 to 1965.
He also coached the men's basketball team for 15 years from 1949 to 1964 compiling a 182-135 career record.
English was the athletic director of ONU when the Polar Bears moved into the King-Horn Gymnasium.
He was also a football official in the Ohio Athletic Conference and the Mid-American Conference.
English was inducted into the Ohio Northern Athletics Hall of Fame in 1972.
