The Ohio Northern men's basketball team, led by All-American Stan Mories, defeated Oklahoma 72-69 on Dec. 23, 1980.

It was the first of four ONU victories over NCAA Division I schools, as the Polar Bears have also topped Portland, Northern Arizona and Louisiana Tech over the years.

Stan Mories was ONU's first 1st Team All-American and finished runner-up in National Player of the Year voting in 1981-82. He also earned Third Team All-America honors in 1980-81.

In 2017, ONU battled Toledo to the wire in a game broadcast nationally on ESPN3. The Polar Bears trailed just 64-62 with 3:19 left in the game before falling 72-62.

The most recent game against a NCAA Division I opponent came just last season, when Ohio Northern fell at Purdue Fort Wayne 81-47.
