ADA — Freshman AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) has received a bid to participate in the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Noon Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
Gower qualified as an individual by finishing 10th overall and seventh among runners whose teams did not qualify for the Championships at the NCAA III Great Lakes Regional Championships last Saturday.
Gower led ONU across the finish line, placing 10th overall in the 269-woman field in a career-best 21:11.
She earned All-Region honors with her top-35 finish.
Her time makes her the third-fastest woman in Ohio Northern history, trailing only Allison Steinbrunner (21:00) and Emily Richards (21:02).
This marks the fourth consecutive Championships meet that the ONU women's team has been represented and the 19th consecutive Championships meet that an Ohio Northern runner (men's or women's) have participated.
