ONU Race Notes: Ohio Northern enters Saturday ranked No. 10 in the Great Lakes Region ... The women's race is 6,000 meters and starts at 2 p.m. ... All 10 teams in the Ohio Athletic Conference will be participating including nationally-ranked No. 26 and Great Lakes Regionally-ranked No. 4 John Carroll, and Great Lakes Regionally-ranked No. 7 Mount Union ... Individual finishers in the top 10 will be awarded First Team All-OAC and finishers 11-20 will be named Second Team All-OAC ... Team Trophies will be awarded to top finishing teams ... ONU last won the team championship in 2012 and finished 4th in 2019 in which John Carroll won the team title ... The Polar Bears last competed October 16th at the Oberlin Rumble finishing 11th of 33 teams ... Senior Tessa Pitcovich was the highest placing individual for the Polar Bears finishing sixth overall of 302 runners ... Sophomore Megan Vapenik and senior Rue Whitmore were the next Polar Bears to finish, placing 60th and 61st with times of 23:56 and 24:00, respectively ... Senior Sophia Thompson was 93rd in 24:32, freshman Olyvia Ashbrook was 97th in 24:37 to round out ONU's top 5 ... Ohio Northern will compete next in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional November 13th at Shelbyville, Indiana.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 13th season as head coach of the men's cross country team … In 12 seasons at ONU, he has guided the men's cross country teams to a 1,233-324 record, a .792 win percentage, and four Ohio Athletic Conference crowns, while the women's cross country teams have compiled a 1,032-449 record, a .697 win percentage, and three OAC titles … Maus currently stands as the all-time winningest coach in Ohio Northern school history for both men's and women's cross-country.
