ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern women's cross-country team will race in its second meet of the season Saturday when the Polar Bears travel to Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio, to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational … The women are slated to run at 11:30 a.m., while the men will compete at 10:30 a.m. … The field also includes Wittenberg, Marietta, Wilmington, Kenyon, Bluffton, Denison, Muskingum, Earlham and Columbus State Community College … The OWU Invitational will mark the first time this season that Northern teams will traverse its full race, as the women will cover six kilometers and the men will cover eight kilometers … Northern won its first race of the 2019 season, claiming the Beaver Dam Invitational crown Aug. 31 … Sophomore Tessa Pitcovich paced the Polar Bears, winning the meet with a time of 19:10.1 … ONU junior Megan Wright placed second overall, clocking in at 19:23.4, and junior Kylie Vestal crossed third overall with a time of 19:34.0 … Senior Madeleine Routhier took fourth, logging a time of 19:37.6, while junior Chyanne Retcher rounded out the Polar Bears' top five, recording a time of 19:57.6 … ONU has never competed in the OWU Invitational.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 11th season as head coach of the women's cross-country team … He has coached three women's cross-country teams to Ohio Athletic Conference titles … Maus is also the all-time winningest coach in Ohio Northern women's cross-country history.
