ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern women's cross country program will return to the course this weekend as it travels to the 2018 OAC Championships Saturday, October 27 ... All races will be ran at Sable Creek Golf Course in Hartville, Ohio ... The women's 6k championship is slated for an 11 a.m. start with the men's 8k championship to follow, beginning at approximately 12:15 p.m. ... Last season, the Polar Bears finished fourth at the 2017 championship event, marking their 16th consecutive upper-division finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference ... In their most recent outing, Northern posted a fifth-place finish overall and topped a field of 13 NCAA Division III institutions at the Wilmington Jenna Strong Invitational on Friday, October 12 ... The top-seven Polar Bear finishers would be separated by just 22 seconds ... Freshman Elizabeth Whitmore recorded the team's fastest time on the 5k circuit as she finished 36th overall with a 19:22 effort ... Sophomore Chyanne Retcher and senior Avery Ewing crossed the tape back-to-back to end 44th and 45th in times of 19:30 and 19:33, respectively ... Sophomore Megan Wright, senior Kristina Myers, junior Kathleen Colvin, and freshman Tessa Pitcovich rounded out the team's top-seven, ending fourth-through-seventh, respectively.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 10th season as head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs at Ohio Northern ... He enters the weekend with a record of 848-370, good for a winning percentage of .696 … Maus currently stands as the all-time winningest coach in Ohio Northern school history for both men's and women's cross country.
