ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern women's cross country program returns to action following a two-week competition break as they compete at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships Saturday, September 29 at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, Ohio ... The women's 6k championship race will start the afternoon at 2 p.m. while the men's 8k race is slated to begin at 2:45 p.m. ... After the championship races, there will also be an open 6k race for the women and an open 8k race for the men starting at 3:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., respectively ... In their last outing, the Polar Bears claimed the Blue River Park College Memorial Invitational team championship, edging out Trine (Ind.), Earlham (Ind.), Manchester (Ind.), Bluffton, and Anderson (Ind.) in Shelbyville, Indiana on September 15 ... Northern placed five in the event's top-10 individual finishers, led by freshman Elizabeth Whitmore, who wound up fifth overall in a team-best time of 24:52 ... Sophomore Megan Wright (6th, 25:05), senior Kristina Myers (7th, 25:21), sophomore Chyanne Retcher (9th, 25:27), and junior Kathleen Colvin (10th, 25:32) finished narrowly behind to claim the remaining top-10 efforts among the 56-runner field ... Senior Avery Ewing ended 12th overall with a 25:37 clocking while classmate Angie Sullivan rounded out the team's top-seven finishers with a 26:00, 16th-place effort ... Last season, the Polar Bears finished fifth overall in a field of 17 teams at the 2017 All-Ohio Championships.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is currently in his 10th season as head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams at Ohio Northern ... He enters the weekend with an overall win-loss record in women's cross country of 805-362, good for a winning percentage of .690 … Maus currently stands as the all-time winningest coach in Ohio Northern school history for both men's and women's cross country.
