Women's Cross Country finishes 5th of 10 teams at 2013 OAC Championships

WESTERVILLE -- The Ohio Northern women's cross country team finished fifth out of 10 teams at the 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning at the Otterbein Cross Country Course.
The Polar Bears (46-40 overall) finished with 164 points. John Carroll won the team title with 34 points, Mount Union was second with 37 points and Otterbein was third with 86 points.
Senior Laura Avino led a tight pack of ONU runners across the finish line with a 32nd place finish out of 137 runners in 24:47 on the 6,000-meter course.
Junior Catie Huber finished 33rd in 24:51, junior Brittany Lang was 36th in 24:56, senior Erin Radigan was 37th in 24:59 and freshman Genevieve Marchese was 42nd in 25:07.
The top 18 runners earned All-Conference honors, with the top nine being named First Team and the second nine being named Second Team.
Sophie Goobic of Heidelberg won the individual title, finishing in 22:42.
The Polar Bears will return to action Nov. 16 at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional meet at Grand Rapids, Mich.
