ANGOLA, Ind. — Ohio Northern swept No. 24-ranked Calvin (Mich.) and Trine (Ind.) in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

  • Records: Ohio Northern (14-4 Overall), #24 Calvin (10-6 Overall), Trine (13-3 Overall).
  • Northern defeated Calvin 25-22, 25-19, 26-24 and swept Trine 25-22, 25-13, 25-16.
  • In the first match of the day, Calvin swept Trine 25-10, 27-25, 25-15.
  • Venue: Hershey Hall - Angola, Ind.

#24 Calvin Match Highlights

  • Senior Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) had a match-high 18 kills and hit .419 with four blocks.
  • Freshman Summer Hoying (Fort Loramie) added 10 kills, 10 digs and hit .409.
  • Senior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) and freshman Haley Hammer (Cecil/Fairview) each had 16 assists.
  • Senior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) had a team-leading 13 digs and 8 assists.
  • Calvin was led by Aerin Baker with 16 kills. 
  • The Polar Bears hit .264 for the match with 46 kills, while the Knights hit .213 with 42 kills in the match.

Trine Match Highlights

  • Wagner had a game-high 11 kills and hit .500.
  • Hoying added 10 kills, five digs and three blocks.
  • Conrad had 18 assists.
  • Jennings had a team-leading 10 digs.
  • Trine was led by Madison Dominick with 11 kills. 
  • The Polar Bears hit .348 for the match with 40 kills, while the Thunder hit .178 with 37 kills in the match.

  • Ohio Northern trails the all-time series against Calvin by a 20-12 margin.
  • Ohio Northern leads the all-time series against Trine by a 6-0 margin.
  • Jennings now has 1,852 digs in 97 career matches, and is No. 6 on ONU's all-time top 10 list in that category.
  • Jennings entered the 2024 season ranked eighth nationally in digs among active Division III players.
  • Conrad is eighth on ONU's all-time career assist list with 2,230 in 96 career matches. 
  • Wagner now ranks fifth all-time in ONU's top-10 list for hitting percentage, hitting .333 in 92 career matches.
  • She also has 1,072 career kills.
  • Sophie Windover is now 30-14 in her two seasons as head coach of the ONU volleyball team, a winning percentage of .667.
