Volleyball closes OAC schedule with five-set loss at Marietta

MARIETTA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team closed its Ohio Athletic Conference schedule Saturday afternoon with a 17-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 5-15 loss at Marietta.

Match Highlights
- Four Polar Bears tallied double-digit kills, as junior Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) led the way with 13 to go with 11 from freshman Olivia Baumann (Eaton) and 10 each from senior Ava Ehlinger (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) and junior Lauren James (Farmington Halls, Mich./North Farmington).
- James added 10 blocks (1 block solo and 9 block assists).
- Baumann hit .286 for the match.
- Junior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) posted a game-high 24 digs.
- Junior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) led ONU with 33 assists.
- The Polar Bears hit .164 with 51 kills, while the Pioneers hit .219 with 61 kills.
Notables
- ONU finsihed in a three-way tie for fourth in the OAC standings and will be the No. 4 seed in next week's OAC Tournament. The Polar Bears will host a quarterfinal match on Nov. 7.
- James' 10 blocks matched a single-game career-high.
- Jennings has 1,521 career digs, which ranks 10th all-time at ONU.
- Conrad has 1,754 career assists. She is just 18 assists away from joining ONU's top-10 list in the category.
- Wagner ranks seventh all-time in ONU's top-10 list for hitting percentage, hitting .302 in 70 career matches.
- ONU leads the all-time series with Marietta by a 59-1 margin.
- Sophie Windover is now 15-8 in her first season as head coach of the ONU volleyball team.
