No. 25-ranked Volleyball opens OAC slate with sweep of Mount Union

ADA — The No. 25-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team swept Mount Union 25-17, 25-17, 25-17 in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.
The Basics
- Records: #25 Ohio Northern (11-4, 1-0 OAC), Mount Union (12-3, 0-1 OAC).

- Junior Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) led the Polar Bears with 12 kills and a .545 hitting percentage.
- Senior Ava Ehlinger (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) had 8 kills to go with 8 digs.
- Freshmen Olivia Baumann (Eaton) and Kate Zellers (Monroeville, Ind./Heritage) had 7 kills each with Baumann also posting a .400 hitting percentage.
- Senior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) had a team-best 19 assists and junior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) had a team-best 12 digs.
- Northern did not trail in the opening set and used a 6-1 run to pull away after leading 19-16.
- In Set 2, a 10-1 run rallied ONU from a 16-14 deficit to a 25-17 win.
- With the score tied at 6-all in Set 3, ONU used a 9-0 run to take a 15-7 lead and was not threatened the rest of the way.
- The Polar Bears hit .291 with 46 kills, while the Purple Raiders hit .157 with 27 kills.

- Conrad now has 1,555 career assists. She is just 217 assists away from joining ONU's top-10 list in the category.
- Jennings has 1,364 career digs, which is 103 away from joining ONU's all-time top 10 in that category.
- Wagner is tied for 7th in ONU's top-10 list for hitting percetage, hitting .299 to date.
- ONU leads UMU in the all-time series between the two schools by a 55-8 margin.
- ONU has now won 29 consecutive OAC regular season openers.
