Junior Chelsea Huppert named 2nd Team Academic All-America in Volleyball by College Sports Information Directors of America

ADA — Ohio Northern junior middle hitter Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) has been named 2nd Team Google Cloud Academic All-America in women's volleyball by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
To be considered, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher in academic standing, serve as a starter or important reserve player for their respective team, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 grade scale at her current institution. In addition, all nominees must have participated in 50 percent of the team's competitions at their respective position.
Huppert, a junior pharmacy major, is also two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, a two-time Academic All-District honoree, a two-time AVCA First-Team All-Great Lakes Region award winner, and has been named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference listings in each of her three years at ONU.
This season, she lead the Polar Bears with 368 kills, a .340 hitting percentage, and 70 total blocks while her kills and attack percentage marks also ranked her third among OAC student-athletes. Her hitting percentage also ranks third all-time in the junior class record book at Ohio Northern.
The Bremen, Ind., native has 1,025 career kills, a .338 hitting clip, and 286 career blocks in her three years as a Polar Bear. Her career hitting percentage now ranks third all-time in program history.
Ohio Northern concluded the 2018 campaign with a 22-8 overall record and an 8-1 OAC mark, which provided them a share of their third straight OAC Regular Season title. The Polar Bears would go on to win their league-best 20th OAC Tournament title after knocking off Marietta, Baldwin Wallace, and Muskingum to capture the crown.
ONU would wrap up the campaign with a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament where they fell in their opening-round matchup to No. 18-ranked UW-Whitewater.
