Chelsea Huppert named OAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week

ADA - Junior middle hitter Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) was selected as the OAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week recipient, the league office announced Monday afternoon with the release of their weekly awards list.

Last week, Huppert spotlighted the ONU offensive attack, registering 49 kills with just six errors for an impressive .462 hitting percentage. Additionally, the junior posted 10 digs and five total blocks to aid the Northern defensive effort.

Her performance also helped her secure a spot on the Wittenberg Fall Classic All-Tournament Team.

She helped guide the No. 20-ranked Polar Bears to a 3-1 record over the week, which included straight set victories over Bluffton, No. 17 Hope (Mich.), and Mary Washington (Va.) and a 3-1 loss to No. 4-ranked Wittenberg. 

The nomination marks the first time this season, and the third time in her career, that Huppert has garnered the accolade. She is also the first Ohio Northern volleyball player to receive the award in 2018.

The Polar Bears are scheduled to return to the court Wednesday evening, September 19 when they travel to Kenyon for a 7 p.m. start time inside the Kenyon Athletic Center in Gambier.
