SPRINGFIELD — The No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team wrapped up the Wittenberg Fall Invitational with a 3-0 victory over Mary Washington (Va.) and a 3-1 loss at No. 4 Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon at Smith Arena.
The Polar Bears (9-3 overall) finished the tournament with a 2-1 record after a sweep of No. 17 Hope (Mich.) on Friday afternoon.
Junior Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) was named to the All-Tournament Team after 39 kills and a .434 hitting percentage in the three matches.
Against the Eagles (7-4), who received votes in the most recent AVCA poll, junior McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) had 11 kills and Huppert added nine kills in the 25-11, 25-19, 25-22 victory.
Against the host Tigers (8-1) ONU dropped the first two games 25-22 and 25-19 before rebounding to win the third game 25-19. WU then won the fourth game 25-13 to take the match.
Huppert had a match-high 15 kills and junior Sydney Bapst (Grove City) added 11 kills for Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday at 7 pm with a non-conference match at Kenyon.
