ADA — No. 18-ranked Ohio Northern swept Marietta 25-13, 25-14, 25-16 in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The second-seeded Polar Bears (26-4 overall) advance to the semifinals on Thursday night and will host third-seeded Mount Union at 7 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
The third-seeded Pioneers end their season with an 11-18 record.
Ohio Northern is now an impressive 21-1 in quarterfinal matches and is 65-14 in its 34 OAC Tournament appearances. The Polar Bears have won 19 OAC Tournament titles, including a thrilling 5-set victory in the finals in 2016.
Against Marietta, Northern was in control of the match throughout, holding leads of 20-10, 20-10 and 20-12 in each of the three sets.
Sophomore McKenna Jordan (Toledo/Saint Ursula) had a match-high 11 kills and sophomore Sydney Fecko (Aurora/Trinity) had seven kills in her first match of the season to lead ONU.
Ohio Northern hit .274 for the match with 38 kills and only nine errors, while Marietta hit .035 with 27 kills and 23 errors.
