Senior Ashley Borchers and junior Haley Potters lead No. 24 Volleyball in 25-13, 25-8, 25-17 sweep of Muskingum

ADA -- Senior Ashley Borchers (Russia/Russia) and junior Haley Potters (Wheelersburg/South Webster) led the No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team as it swept Muskingum 25-13, 25-8, 25-17 Saturday afternoon at the Anne C. Steele Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 22-3 overall and remain a perfect 7-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Muskies fall to 14-12, 2-5.
Borchers recorded six kills for Northern and added a game-high 17 assists and added four digs for ONU.
Potters posted seven kills and added a game-high and career-high nine blocks for the Polar Bears.
Freshman Sydney Fecko (Aurora/Trinity) posted a team-high eight kills to lead Ohio Northern offensively.
Northern would gain an early advantage in the first set as it jumped out to a 10-4 lead capped off by a service ace by junior Megan Nieszala (Lambertville, Mich./St. Marys Catholic Central).
The Muskies would climb back into the set and close the gap to 10-9 before Northern closed the set out 15-4 run to take set one.
In the second set, freshman McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) would use three quick kills to help ONU jump out to a 7-3 lead.
After Muskingum scored the next point, Northern would use a 7-0 run fueled by three kills from senior Claire Heitkamp (Maria Stein/Marion Local) to extend the lead and go on to win the set 25-8.
The Polar Bears were able to jump out to an 11-3 lead in the third set before Muskingum fought back to close the gap to 14-13.
ONU would use an 11-4 run to close the set and complete the sweep.
The Polar Bears will return to action Tuesday evening as they travel to Baldwin Wallace to take on the Yellow Jackets at 7 pm.
