#24 Volleyball runs win streak to 13 with sweep of Wilmington

ADA — Freshman Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) had 13 kills in just 16 swings, leading the No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team to its 13th consecutive victory, a 25-13, 25-11, 25-11 win over Wilmington on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 21-3 and remain atop the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 6-0 league mark, while the Quakers fall to 3-20, 0-6.
Huppert hit a career-high .812 for the match and led ONU to a .446 hitting percentage as a team.
Northern had 53 kills in just 101 attempts and held Wilmington to 19 kills in 94 attacks and a .043 hitting percentage.
The Polar Bears started off Set 1 red-hot, registering 10 kills in their first 10 swings to take a quick 13-6 lead.
Northern hit .581 in the opening set with 20 kills on just 31 attempts with Huppert collecting six of those kills.
In Set 2, Northern raced to leads of 6-0, 13-2 and 17-4 and won the set 25-11.
In the third set, the Polar Bears again raced to a 6-0 lead. Another 6-0 run extended the lead to 19-8 and ONU closed out the match from there.
Ohio Northern played all 14 healthy players on the roster and each of them had a kill or a dig.
Freshman Sydney Bapst (Grove City) had nine kills, freshman Sydney Fecko (Aurora/Trinity) had eight kills and freshman Madison Broering (Saint Henry) came off the bench to dish out 21 assists to go with five kills.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday with a 1 pm match at Muskingum.
