Senior Claire Heitkamp and freshman Sydney Fecko lead Volleyball in 3-0 sweep of Otterbein

ADA -- Senior Claire Heitkamp (Maria Stein/Marion Local) and freshman Sydney Fecko (Aurora/Trinity) led the Ohio Northern volleyball team to a 3-set sweep over Ohio Athletic Conference-foe Otterbein Tuesday evening at the Rike Center in Westerville.
The Polar Bears improve to 17-3 overall and 2-0 in the OAC, while the Cardinals fall to 11-7, 1-2.
Fecko led the way for Northern offensively, as she posted a game-high 11 kills.
Heitkamp added nine kills for the Polar Bears, while hitting a game-high .538.
Senior Ashley Borchers (Russia/Russia) posted a game-high 41 assists, while freshman McKenna Hostetler (Plain City/Alder) added a game-high 23 digs.
After taking the first set 25-17 in a competitive match, Northern would take the second set 25-12.
After Otterbein closed the gap to 13-11 in the second set, Northern would use an 11-0 run to quickly extend the lead to 24-11.
Freshman McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) and Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) fueled the 11-0 run with two kills apiece.
The Polar Bears would find themselves down 21-20 late in the third set, before going on a 5-0 run to seal the 3-0 sweep.
Northern will return to action Friday as they host Capital at the ONU Sports Center at 7 pm.
