ADA -- The Ohio Northern volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 13-ranked Eastern (Pa.), before defeating Salisbury (Md.) in the first round of the Franklin & Marshall (Pa.) tournament Friday afternoon.
The Polar Bears move to 8-2 overall, while Eastern improves to 8-0 and Salisbury falls to 6-3.
Freshman McKenna Jordan posted a team-high six kills and added a game-high 20 digs to lead the Polar Bears against Eastern.
Senior Claire Heitkamp and freshman Chelsea Huppert and Sydney Fecko each added five kills.
Senior Ashley Borchers posted a team-high 25 assists and a game-high four blocks.
In the contest against Salisbury, Huppert and junior Haley Potters led the way with a team-high eight kills.
Huppert also hit a game-high .400 and added six total blocks.
Borchers added 31 assists for the Polar Bears and recorded five kills.
Junior Megan Nieszala posted a game-high 21 digs for Northern.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday as they play No. 14 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) and Stevenson (N.J.) in the second round of the Franklin & Marshall Scramble.
