ADA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team defeated Thomas More (Ky.) and Geneva (Pa.) Friday evening at the annual Bluffton Sommer Center Spiketacular.
ONU defeated Thomas More 25-19, 25-20 and 25-13 to open day one of the tournament.
The Polar Bears (4-1 overall) were led in the contest by senior Ashley Borchers as she posted team-highs in kills (9), assists (25), kill percentage (.462), and blocks (7).
Junior Megan Nieszala led the team with 17 digs and chipped in five assists.
Freshman Chelsea Huppert added eight kills, while senior Claire Heitkamp recorded seven kills.
The Polar Bears took game two against Geneva 25-21, 25-17 and 25-23 to improve to 2-0 at the tournament.
Northern will return to action Saturday as they compete in day two of the Bluffton Sommer Center Spiketacular and take on DePauw (Ind.) at 12 pm and Kenyon at 2 pm.
