No. 23 Volleyball wins ninth straight match with sweep at Wilmington

WILMINGTON — Junior Ashley Borchers had eight kills, 12 assists and seven digs to lead the No. 23-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team to a 25-14, 25-16, 25-9 victory at Wilmington Tuesday night at Raizk Arena.
The Polar Bears improve to 16-4 overall and are 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play with their ninth consecutive win, while the Quakers fall to 0-18, 0-2.
ONU hit .346 for the match with 37 kills and only nine errors, while WC hit negative-.050 with 18 kills and 23 errors.
Northern played all 15 players on its roster and 11 different players recorded at least one kill.
The Polar Bears hit a blistering .524 in the first set with 12 kills and only one error. Two 5-1 runs and a 5-0 run helped ONU build a 19-10 lead and win the opening set.
In Set 2, Northern went on a 9-2 run to turn a 6-5 deficit into a 1408 lead, capped by three consecutive service aces by sophomore Brenna Dee.
With the score tied at 7-7 in set three, the Polar Bears rattled off 12 straight points to take a commanding 19-7 lead.
Sophomore Megan Nieszala had a match-high 21 digs for ONU.
Wilmington was led by Rheanna McClain with eight kills.
The Polar Bears will return home for a 1 pm OAC match with Mount Union on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.
