BEXLEY -- The Ohio Northern volleyball team went 1-1 on the second day of the OAC/HCAC Challenge on Saturday at the Capital Center.
The Polar Bears are now 9-6 on the season, after going 3-1 in the tournament over the weekend.
Freshman Kristin Sessler was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.
Against Bluffton (7-9), Northern posted a straight set victory (25-16, 25-18, 25-20).
Freshman Claire Heitkamp led the way for ONU, with match high nine kills.
Sophomore Ellie Gillespie, sophomore Kaitlann Hogrefe and freshman Taylor Vuich each finished with six kills for Northern.
Senior Jeni Kmic recorded 20 digs and freshman Ashley Borchers notched a team best 15 assists.
As a team, ONU hit .168 for the match and had 34 kills, while the Beavers hit .120 and recorded 33 kills.
In the match against Mount Saint Joseph (4-10), the Polar Bears fell in a five set thriller (25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 24-26, 15-11).
Gillespie led the way with 12 kills and Heitkamp had 10 and hit .133 for the match.
Sessler had a career best 35 digs and sophomore Heather Saunier had 22 assists.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Wednesday, when it faces the same Bluffton squad at the ONU Sports Center at 7 pm.
