Volleyball turns it around to post wins over Piedmont, Lynchburg in day two of Emory National Tournament
ATLANTA, Ga. — The Ohio Northern volleyball team earned a pair of victories over Piedmont (Ga.) and Lynchburg (Va.) in day two of the Emory National Tournament.
The Polar Bears (11-12) swept Piedmont 25-13, 25-21, 25-11, before defeating Lynchburg 25-12, 21-25, 26-24, 28-26.
Sophomore Kristen Davidson paced the Polar Bears with a team-high 10 kills against Piedmont.
Junior Ellen Grenert and sophomore Cenzie Yoder each contributed six kills. Grenert also added nine digs, six assists and two aces.
Freshman Amanda Volosin dished out 26 assists, while recording 10 digs, while sophomore Jeni Kmic led the defense with 20 digs.
Against Lynchburg, Yoder and sophomore Nicole Pottkotter both notched 12 kills. Davidson contributed 11 kills.
Grenert added nine kills, nine digs, six assists and three blocks.
Volosin directed the offense with 43 assists, while also recording 15 digs. Kmic recorded a team-high 28 digs.
"I felt that we played much better today," head coach Kate Witte said. "We continued to improve throughout the course of the tournament, and I'm happy about that."
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday when they host conference foe Otterbein at 7 p.m.
