Burman breaks school record in weight throw as Women's Indoor Track and Field wins 5th annual Larry Cole Invitational

ADA — Junior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) broke the school record in the weight throw to lead the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team to a first-place finish at the fifth annual Larry Cole Invitational on Friday night.

- The Polar Bears placed first of six teams, scoring 241 points.
- Westminster (Pa.) was second with 97 points, and Rio Grande was third with 86 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Burman won the weight throw with a school- and meet-record mark of 16.76 meters. She also placed third in the shot put with a mark of 12.15 meters.
- Junior Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) won the long jump with a mark of 5.25 meters, and sophomore Lauryn Wolters (Anna) was second with a mark of 5.04 meters.
- Junior Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) won the 60-meter hurdles in :09.63.
- Freshman Lily Wolfe (Mansfield/Lexington) won the 400 meters in 1:04.84.
- Freshman Ashley Baker (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) won the triple jump with a mark of 10.09 meters.
- Senior Megan Vapenik (Strongsville) won the mile run in 5:40.25. Sophomore Dani Widmark (Zanesfield/Benjamin Logan) was second in 5:44.03, and sophomore Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) was third in 5:45.96.
- Junior Abby Matthews (Lithopolis/Bloom Carroll) won the 1,000 in 3:11.35.
- Freshman AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) won the 3,000 in 10:35.41. Sophomore Kennedy Rader (Mason) was second in 10:38.05, and senior Olesya Mertz (Johnstown) was third in 11:02.48.
- The team of Ashbrook, junior Katelyn Messner (Granville) and freshmen Lily Wolfe (Mansfield/Lexington) and Leah Heitkamp (Burkettsville/Saint Henry) won the 4x400 relay in 4:22.11.
- Sophomore Claire Schweller (Paulding) finished second in two events: the pole vault with a mark of 3.66 meters and the 200 meters with a time of :28.65.
- Sophomore Lindsay Weininger (Upper Sandusky) placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters.
- The 4x200 relay team of juniors Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) and Katelyn Messner (Granville), sophomore Stacey Legg (Monroeville) and freshman Paige Simpson (Merrillville, Ind.) placed second in 1:55.91.
- Simpson was second in the 60 meters in :08.09. Gibson was third in :08.17.
- Junior Toria Ingalls (Tiffin/Columbian) was third in two events: the high jump with a mark of 1.54 meters and the triple jump with a mark of 9.34 meters.
- Sophomore Kaitlin Prusnek (Findlay) finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:31.54.
Notables
- The prior school record in the indoor weight throw was 16.28 meters, set by Rebecca Olashuk in 2017. Burman previously ranked second all-time at ONU with a mark of 15.90 meters.
- Weininger's mark in the high jump is tied for 10th all-time at ONU.
- Simpson's time in the 60 ranks ninth all-time at ONU, and Gibson's time is tied for 10th all-time.
- Gower's time in the 3,000 ranks 10th all-time at ONU.
- The Polar Bears have now won the Larry Cole Invitational in four of the five years it has been held.
