Women’s Outdoor Track and Field leads Mike Becraft Invitational after Day 1

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team leads the team standings after competing in two events on the first day of the Mike Becraft Invitational on a cool, rainy Friday at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears (13-3 overall) scored 33 points to sit in first place of six teams. Manchester (Ind.) is second with 16 points, and Concordia (Mich.) is third with 14 points.
Friday's portion of the two-day meet featured the javelin and hammer throw.
The Polar Bears had four scorers in the javelin.
Sophomore Tarrah BeVier (Johnstown/Northridge) led the way for ONU, placing third with a mark of 31.35 meters.
Freshman Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) was fifth at 31.21 meters, sophomore Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) was sixth at 30.87 meters, and sophomore Toria Ingalls (Tiffin/Columbian) was eighth at 29.29 meters.
ONU assistant coach, and former Polar Bear student-athlete, Emily Richards placed second in a non-scoring position, posting a mark of 32.09 meters.
In the hammer throw, sophomore Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) finished second with a mark of 42.01 meters.
Sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was right behind in third, posting a mark of 40.82 meters.
The third annual Mike Becraft Invitational concludes on Saturday.
