Five top-20 finishers in the pole vault highlight Day 1 of Ashland Open for Women’s Indoor Track and Field

ASHLAND — The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team posted five top-20 finishes in the pole vault to highlight Day 1 of the two-day Jud Logan Light Giver Open on Friday at Ashland University's Niss Athletic Center.
Freshman Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) led the way for the Polar Bears at the meet, which is not being team scored.
Ford finished in a tie for 12th in the pole vault, posting a season-best mark of 3.50 meters, which ranks fourth in the Ohio Athletic Conference this season and is eighth all-time at ONU.
Also in the pole vault, senior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) tied for 14th with a mark of 3.35 meters, junior Olivia Ogg (Hebron/Lakewood) and freshman Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) tied for 16th with a mark of 3.05 meters, and sophomore Jaclyn Boardman (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) tied for 18th with a mark of 3.05 meters.
Other highlights from Friday's portion of the meet included an 18th-place finish in the weight throw from sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) with a mark of 14.56 meters, a 21st-place finish in the triple jump from sophomore Rylie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) with a mark of 9.33 meters, and a 47th-place finish in the 200 meters from sophomore Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) in a career-best time of :27.78.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday to close out the Jud Logan Light Giver Open.
