Junior Anna Schatzle leads Women’s Outdoor Track and Field on second day of St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite

JOLIET, Ill. — Junior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) set a new personal-best mark to place second in the pole vault to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team on Saturday for the second and final day of the St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite at Joliet Memorial Stadium.
Schatzle cleared a height of 3.75 meters on Saturday, topping her previous best mark of 3.69 meters.
Schatzle's mark ranks fourth all-time at ONU and is 19th-best in the country, putting her in position to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The top 22 individuals in each event qualify for the national championship meet, which is scheduled for May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio.
Sophomore Olivia Ogg (Hebron/Lakewood) placed 11th in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.10 meters.
Freshman Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.08.
Sophomore J.J. Herron (Miamisburg) rounded out the Polar Bear entrants in Saturday's events with a 23rd-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.19.
Ohio Northern (16-4 overall) returns to action on Thursday at the Mount Union Last Chance meet.
