Meet Preview: The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team travels to Berea on Thursday and Friday for the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships meet hosted by Baldwin Wallace … On Thursday, the field events begin at 10 a.m., and the running events start at 3:10 p.m. … On Friday, the field events begin at 11 a.m., and the running events start at 3 p.m. … All 10 schools are expected to compete at the meet … The top eight places will score points in the team standings (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1), and the top three finishers in each event will earn All-Conference honors … The Polar Bears scored 105.33 points and finished fourth in the 2021 OAC Championships, and Mount Union is the defending meet champion after scoring 218.33 points last season … Returning All-OAC performers from last season include seniors Tessa Pitcovich (10,000 meters) and Kayla Silva (100 meters), junior Anna Schatzle (pole vault) and sophomore Olivia Ogg (pole vault) … ONU's 4x800 relay team of senior Taylor Ellerbrock, junior Lexi Neff and sophomores Sydney Goodrich and J.J. Herron also won All-Conference honors at the 2021 Outdoor Championships … The Polar Bears placed third behind Mount Union and John Carroll at the 2022 OAC Indoor Championships … Ogg won the indoor title in the pole vault, clearing 3.47 meters … Other Polar Bears to earn All-OAC honors at the Indoor Championships included Pitcovich (5,000 meters and 3,000 meters), Silva (60 meters) and freshmen Toria Ingalls (high jump) and Chloe Gibson (triple jump) … The Polar Bears are coming off the two-day Ashland Alumni Open last Friday and Saturday, which was not team scored … ONU posted nine top-10 finishes at the meet led by fifth-place showings from freshman Olyvia Ashbrook in the 400-meter hurdles and the team of Herron, junior Gabrielle Kowalczyk and freshmen Olivia Altiere and Katelyn Messner in the 4x400 relay … The top 22 individuals and top 16 relay teams qualify for the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio ... Only one team per relay event per school is eligible to qualify for nationals ... The Polar Bears currently have three season-best performances that rank inside the top 50 in the country … Schatzle ranks 19th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.70 meters, Pitcovich ranks 24th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 36:26.25, and Ashbrook ranks 50th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.49.
