Women's Indoor Track and Field opens 2022 season by winning their own third-annual Larry Cole Invitational

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team opened its 2022 schedule with a victory at the third annual Larry Cole Invitational on Friday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears (5-0) edged Ohio Wesleyan 158-136 at the top of the standings. Manchester (Ind.) was third with 86 points, Adrian (Mich.) was fourth with 71 points and Anderson (Ind.) was fifth with 25 points.
Freshman Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) won the 500 in a meet record 1:23.84.
Sophomore Allie Starner (Wellington) won the 60 hurdles in :09.61 and the 60 dash in :08.18.
Freshman Rosie Schroeder (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley), freshman Rylie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen), freshman Katelyn Messner (Granville) and senior Gizem Tanriverdi (Ada) won the 4x400 relay in 4:27.53.
Sophomore J.J. Herron (Mianisburg) was second in the 500 in 1:24.46.
Sophomore Olivia Ogg (Hebron/Lakewood) and junior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) were second and third in the pole vault by clearing 3.35 meters.
Junior Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit) and sophomore Oleysa Mertz (Johnstown) were 2-3 in the 1-mile run in 5:44.12 and 5:45.77, respectively.
Freshman Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) was second in the 200 dash in :28.01.
Freshman Rylie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) was second in the triple jump with a leap of 9.25 meters. Freshman Ammryn Roberts (Logan) was third in 8.89.
Freshman Toria Ingalls (Tiffin/Colubian) had a pair of third place finishes. She was third in the high jump (1.58 meters) and third in the 400 in 1:06.06.
Schroeder was third in the 60 hurdles in :09.92.
Freshman M.J. Zindars (Delaware/Buckeye Valley) was third in the 5000 run in 20:40.52.
Freshman Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was third in the shot put with a heave of 10.60 meters.
The 4x200 relay team of Krichbaum, freshman Olivia Harger (Sidney), freshman Olivia Altiere (Canfield/Western Reserve) and senior Kayla Silva (Westerville/South) were second in 1:52.67.
The Polar Bears will return to action Jan. 29 when they host the annual Joe Banks Invitational.
