Junior Kayla Silva breaks school record in 200-meter dash, leads Women's Outdoor Track & Field at Otterbein April Fools Invitational

WESTERVILLE — Junior Kayla Silva (Westerville/South) broke the school record in the 200-meter dash to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team at the Otterbein April Fools Invitational on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
The Polar Bears (9-3 overall) were second of five teams with 161 points.
Silva ran a :24.45 to win the 200-meter run, breaking the previous record of :24.54 set in 2018 by Taylor Lavey.
Senior Kylie Vestal (Youngstown/Austintown Fitch) led a 1-2-3 ONU finish in the 1500, winning in 4:51.80.
Senior Megan Wright (Eaton/Twin Valley South) was second in 4:58.83 and sophomore Kamryn Rhodes (West Mansfield/North Union) was third in 4:59.18.
Ohio Northern also had a 1-2-3 finish in the javelin with freshman Hope Stanley (Geneva) winning with a toss of 29.30 meters.
Freshman Juliet Palmer (Ostrander/Fairbanks) was second at 24.59 meters and junior Mackenzie Detmer (Waterville/Liberty Center) was third at 23.84 meters.
Junior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) and sophomore Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit) finished 1-2 in the 800 in 2:22.47 and 2:23.78, respectively.
Freshman Natalie Garrett (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) was second in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.60.
The 4x400 relay team of Neff, Ellerbrock, freshman Sydney Goodrich (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and freshman J.J. Herron (Miamisburg) were second in 4:11.78.
Otterbein won the team title with 197 points, Wilmington was third with 77, Capital was fourth with 41 and Heidelberg was fifth with 36.
The Polar Bears will return home next Saturday when they host a meet at Kerscher Stadium.
