Silva and Vestal each earn a pair of All-OAC honors to lead Women's Track and Field to a third place finish at the OAC Indoor Championships

WESTERVILLE — Junior Kayla Silva (Westerville/South) and senior Kylie Vestal (Youngstown/Austintown Fitch) earned All-OAC honors in two events each to lead the Ohio Northern women's track and field team to a third place finish in the OAC Championships Friday at the Clements Center hosted by Otterbein.
ONU finished third of 10 teams with 85 points. No. 5-ranked John Carroll won the team championship with 216 points, No. 13 Mount Union was second with 194.5 points, Otterbein was fourth with 71.5 points and No. 16 Baldwin Wallace was fifth with 64 points.
With the third place finish the Polar Bears end their indoor season with a 22-9 record.
The top three finishers in each of the 19 events earned All-Conference honors and the top eight in each event scored team points.
Silva finished second in the 200 in 26.06 seconds and was third in the 60 meters in 7.83 seconds, earning All-OAC honors in both events. She was also seventh in the long jump at 5.12 meters.
Vestal finished third in the 1,000 in 3:02.31 to earn All-OAC honors.
She was also on the distance medlay relay team with freshman J.J. Herron (Miamisburg), junior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) and senior Megan Wright (Eaton/Twin Valley South) that finished 3rd in 12:38.06, earning All-OAC honors.
Vestal also scored points on the 4x400 relay team that finished fourth with sophomore Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit), Herron and Ellerbrock.
Senior Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch) finished second in the long jump with a jump of 5.48 meters earning All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors. She was also fourth in the 60 hurdles in :09.20 and was sixth in the triple jump at 10.37 meters.
Sophomore Kamryn Rhodes (West Mansfield/North Union) was fourth in the mile in 5:31.63.
The Polar Bears will start their outdoor season March 20 at Marietta.
