This Week's Preview: Individual athletes vie for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship berths as the Ohio Northern track and field programs travel to the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central (Ill.) and the Harrison Dillard Twilight meet at Baldwin Wallace this Thursday and Friday ... The Polar Bears enter the events with a 59-12 overall record after finishing fifth at the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on April 26 and 27 at Otterbein ... Seniors Mallory Weininger and Kristina Myers, sophomore Megan Wright, and freshman Jessica Siefker will represent the women's program at the Dr. Keeler Invitational ... Weininger and Siefker are slated to compete in the high jump Thursday afternoon following the men's competition ... Meanwhile, Wright and Myers will compete in the 5,000-meter run at 6 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium ... In addition, seniors Tia Harris and Taylor Fisher, juniors Maggie Krause, Allison Stevens, and Madeleine Routhier, and sophomores Chyanne Retcher and Kylie Vestal will each compete at the Harrison Dillard Twilight meet this week ... Harris will begin her day in the hammer throw following the men's competition and compete in the shot put at 7 p.m. ... Following the men's competition at 4 p.m., Krause and Stevens take on the pole vault field at George Finnie Stadium ... Routhier kicks off the action on the track in the 800-meter run, beginning at 5:20 p.m. ... Fisher is slated to compete in the 400 hurdles competition at 7 p.m. Friday evening ... Vestal and Retcher will wrap up the Polar Bear performances at 8 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500-meter run, respectively ... On the NCAA Division III national performance list, Krause and Stevens sit ninth and 40th in the pole vault at 3.82 meters (12' 6.25") and 3.56 meters (11' 8"), respectively ... Harris ranks 42nd overall in the shot put with her school record throw of 12.92 meters (42' 4.75") ... Senior Avery Ewing ranks 45th in the 800-meter run with a 2:15.70 clocking, and Weininger is tied for 50th in the high jump with her 1.62-meter (5' 3.75") clearance ... The top 22 individual performances in the country will book a spot at the 2019 NCAA Division Championships to be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio from May 23-25.
