This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will host the outdoor Ohio Athletic Conference Championships for the first time since 2000 ... The meet will be held at Kerscher Stadium with throwing events taking place just southeast of the stadium ... Day one of the championships will begin on Friday, Apr. 27 at noon with the women's pole vault and javelin and the men's discus and long jump ... The second day of the meet will kick off at 10 a.m. as it opens with the women's hammer throw and high jump and the men's shot put and triple jump ... The women's track and field team enters the meet ranked No. 9 nationally in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association power rankings, released on Tuesday evening ... Northern jumped two spots and has now been ranked in the top-10 in three of the four weekly editions of the poll ... The Polar Bears enter the meet on a high note after posting a convincing first place finish at the annual Polar Bear Invitational last weekend at Kerscher Stadium ... The meet featured first place finishes from senior Mallory Weininger, juniors Avery Ewing, Michaela Fox, and Sydney McCluer, sophomores Taylor Lavey and Maggie Krause, freshmen Lauren Turner and Stella DeWitt, and the 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Sarah Menuez, freshmen Chyanne Retcher and Makayla Hoying and Turner ... Lavey and DeWitt each set new meet records to lead ONU in the meet ... Krause's first place finish in the pole vault moved her into 14th place nationally in the event.
