This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern women's track and field team will open their 2018 home schedule on Friday afternoon as they host the annual Polar Bear Invitational at Kerscher Stadium ... The Polar Bears enter the meet ranked No. 11 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association power rankings ... The meet will kick off at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon ... Day one of the meet will feature the men's and women's hammer throw and the men's and women's javelin ... The second day of the meet will begin at 11 a.m. with the women's high jump, discus and pole vault, and the men's long jump and shot put ... Running events will begin at noon on Saturday ... Northern enters the meet after a solid performance at the All-Ohio Championships last weekend ... Junior Maddy Reed tied her own All-Ohio meet record in the pole vault and won the event, while sophomore Taylor Lavey broke her own school record in the 100-meter dash ... Reed won the pole vault at the meet for the second consecutive season ... After running the fastest time in the preliminaries in the 100-meter dash, Lavey finished second overall in the event breaking her school record in :12.33 ... In the 800-meter run, junior Avery Ewing finished second overall in 2:19.39 and was within a second of finishing first ... Senior Emily Richards currently owns the fastest time nationally among Division III athletes and second across all divisions in the 800-meter run ... Her 1,500-meter run time also leads all Div. III athletes ... Reed currently owns the second best height nationally in the pole vault entering the meet ... Lavey also ranks 23rd nationally in the 100-meter dash.
