Reed ties All-Ohio meet record, Lavey breaks school record to lead No. 10 Women's Track & Field at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE — Junior Maddy Reed (Piketon) tied her own All-Ohio meet record in the pole vault and won the event, while sophomore Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) broke her own school record in the 100-meter dash to lead the No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team at the 2018 All-Ohio Championships at Gauthier Track.
The Polar Bears (34-7 overall) finished fourth of 19 teams in the meet with 74 points.
Reed had the only first place finish in the meet, winning the pole vault for the second straight season and tying her own meet record with a leap of 12' 10.25". Her vault currently ranks second nationally.
Senior Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde) finished fourth in the pole vault with a leap of 11' 8.50", while sophomore Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) was fifth in the event with a vault of 11' 2.50".
After running the fastest time in the preliminaries in the 100-meter dash, Lavey finished second overall in the event breaking her school record in :12.33.
In the 800-meter run, junior Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) finished second overall in 2:19.39 and was within a second of finishing first.
Sophomore Melinda McIntosh (Farmersville/Valley View) posted a top-3 finish in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing third in :15.66.
Junior Tia Harris (Newton Falls) also added a third place finish for the Polar Bears in the shot put with a toss of 39' 8.75".
Northern will open the home portion of its 2018 outdoor schedule next Saturday on Apr. 21 as it hosts the annual Polar Bear Invitational at Kerscher Stadium.
