No. 6-ranked Women's Track & Field opens Outdoor season at non-scoring Indiana Wesleyan Polar Bear Invitational

MARION, Ind. — The No. 6-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team opened its 2018 outdoor season on Friday afternoon at the 27th annual Indiana Wesleyan Polar Bear Invitational at the IWU Track.
Athletes from 12 schools competed in the non-scoring meet.
Freshman Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch Catholic) won the long jump with a leap of 5.39 meters and was fourth in the 100-meter dash in :13.04.
Seven-time NCAA Champion and 11-time All-American senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) won the 400-meter dash in :56.60, with junior Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) finishing third in the event in :59.76.
Richards was also seventh in the javelin with a toss of 25.86 meters.
Sophomore Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) finished second in the 200 in :26.17 and freshman Megan Wright (Eaton / Twin Valley South) was second in the 5,000 in 18:45.39.
Junior Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) was third in the 1,500 in 4:54.06.
Sophomore Melinda McIntosh (Farmersville/Valley View) was third in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.92 and was fourth in the 100 hurdles in :16.00.
Senior Mallory Weininger (Upper Sandusky) was fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.50 meters.
The 4x400 relay team of Ewing, junior Michaela Fox (Bellevue), freshman Lauren Turner (Bellevue) and McIntosh was fourth in 4:17.36.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Friday at the Otterbein April Fools Invitational.
