Women's Track & Field lands eight USTFCCCA Indoor All-Great Lakes Region honorees

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team saw eight members named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Indoor All-Great Lakes Region team for the 2018 indoor season.
Seniors Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) and Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde), juniors Maddy Reed (Piketon), Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern), Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta), sophomores Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) and Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and freshman Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch Catholic) all earned the honor for their efforts during the 2018 indoor season.
Richards, now a 3-time All-Great Lakes Region honoree indoors, led the way earning the honor in the 800-meter run, 1-mile run, 3,000-meter run and as a member of Northern's 4x400-meter relay team.
The senior qualified to compete at the 2018 Indoor NCAA Div. III Indoor National Championships in all four events and owns the fastest time nationally in each of the three individual events.
Wollenslegel was named All-Great Lakes Region for the second consecutive season in the pole vault.
She finished fourth at the OAC Championships with a career-best vault of 12' 0.5".
Reed, also an All-Region honoree in the pole vault earned the honor for the third time in the event.
The junior is tied for second nationally in the pole vault and will compete in the event this weekend at the 2018 Indoor NCAA Div. III Indoor National Championships.
Ewing earned the honor for the first time in her career, while Fisher earned the honor for the second time in her career.
The pair earned the honor as members of the 4x400-meter relay team. The 4x400-meter relay team qualified for this weekends 2018 Indoor NCAA Div. III Indoor National Championships with a last chance effort at the Polar Bear Final Qualifier last weekend that broke the school record in the event and pushed Northern into the final field with the 11th best time nationally.
Lavey also makes her first appearance on the All-Region list after earning the honor in 60-meter and 200-meter dashes and as a member of Northern's 4x400-meter relay team.
Lavey set schools records this season in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes and is a part of ONU's school-record holding 4x400-meter relay team.
Krause is also making her first appearance on the All-Region list after earning the honor in the pole vault.
The sophomore finished third at the 2018 OAC Championships after posting a new personal best in the event with a vault of 12' 4.5". Krause owns the ninth best mark in the event nationally in will compete in the 2018 Indoor NCAA Div. III Indoor National Championships this weekend.
DeWitt was named All-Great Lakes Region in her first season as a Polar Bear, earning the honor in the long jump. DeWitt earned All-OAC honors in the event at the OAC Championships with a third place finish.
