Freshman Lauren Turner leads No. 8 Women's Indoor Track & Field at Kenyon Classic

GAMBIER — Freshman Lauren Turner (Bellevue) had the top individual performance to lead the No. 8-ranked Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team at the Kenyon Classic on Satruday afternoon.
The Polar Bears finished eighth of 10 teams and move their record to 30-12.
Turner posted a second place finish in the 1,000-meter run, posting her career-best time in the event, finishing in 3:14.77.
Freshman Makayla Hoying (St. Henry) also competed in the 1,000-meter run, finishing third in 3:21.21.
Northern finished 3-4 in the 5,000-meter run as sophomore Kathleen Colvin (Hilliard/Bishop Ready) was third in 19:50.18 and junior Angie Sullivan (Medina) finished fourth in the event in 19:51.00.
In the pole vault, senior All-Region vaulter Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde) finished third overall with a vault of 11' 4.25", while sophomore Allison Stevens (Naperville, Ill./Central) finished sixth with a leap of 10' 4.25".
Senior Mallory Weininger ( Upper Sandusky) also found success in the field events, posting a fourth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 4' 11.00".
Northern will return to action next Saturday as it travels to Bexley to compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.
