Women's Track & Field: #5 Ohio Northern (15-2 Overall) at All-Ohio Championships

This Weekend's Preview: The No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team will compete in the All-Ohio Championships in Westerville on Saturday afternoon ... Northern jumped two spots in the third weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association power rankings and re-entered the top-5 after being ranked No. 5 ... The All-Ohio meet will kick off at 12 pm with the women's long jump, high jump and shot put ... Running events will begin at noon with the women's distance medley relay ... The Polar Bears enter the meet after competing in annual Joe Banks Invitational last weekend ... Northern finished second of 14 teams at the meet ... Freshman Stella DeWitt swept the long jump and triple jump to lead Northern in the meet ... DeWitt claimed the triple jump with a leap of 34' 11.00", before winning the long jump with a jump of 18' 00.50" ... The distance medley relay team of juniors Ashlie Baumann, Michaela Fox and Avery Ewing, and sophomore Zoe Schilling got Northern off to a fast start as they set a new meet record in the event with a time of 13:05.40 ... In the 60-meter dash, sophomore Taylor Lavey claimed first place in :8.00 ... Ewing also won the r500-meter dash in 1:19.79, while junior Maddy Reed led the way with a first place finish in the pole vault with a leap of 12' 8.75" ... Senior Emily Richards compete in the Camel City Elite Races in Winston-Salem, N.C. where she posted a sixth place finish in the 800-meter run ... Richards' time of 2:07.46 broke her own school record and career best time and also comes in as the third fastest time in Div. III history in the event ... Her time is more than four seconds faster than the next closest Div. III athlete in the event ... Richards will represent Ohio Northern at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet on Friday afternoon as she competes in both the 800-meter run and the 1-mile run.
