Women's Track & Field: No. 7 Ohio Northern (3-1 Overall) hosts annual Joe Banks Invitational

This Weekend's Preview: The No. 7-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team will compete in its first home meet of the season as it hosts the annual Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse ... Northern jumped one spot to No. 7 in the second weekly USTFCCCA power rankings after moving up from eighth place in the first weekly power rankings ... Field events for the meet are set to begin at 11 am with the women's high jump and weight throw ... Running events will begin at noon with the women's distance medley relay ... The field is composed of 14 Div. III teams from across the Ohio region ... Northern enters the meet after posting solid outings at the SPIRE Midwest Open, Indiana Relays and Findlay Classic and Elite Throws last weekend ... At the Midwest Track & Field Open at the SPIRE Institute, junior Ashlie Baumann posted a seventh place finish in the 5,000-meter run in a career-fastest time of 18:11.99 ... Junior Colleen Grainger competed during the first day of the Findlay Classic and Elite Throws meet and finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run in 19:36.80 ... Junior Maddy Reed had an impressive performance against Division I competition, tying for third in the pole vault at the Indiana Relays at Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington, Ind. ... Reed cleared 12' 3/4" and tied for third with Kassadee Ifft of Notre Dame and Rachel Coghill of Cincinnati ... Junior Avery Ewing traveled to Northeast Ohio and finished fourth in the 800-meter run at the SPIRE Midwest Open in Geneva ... Ewing finished fourth out of 56 in the event in 2:19.07 ... At Findlay, freshman Stella DeWitt led the Polar Bears with a first place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.36 meters (17' 7") ... Sophomore Zoe Schilling was third in the 3,000-meter run in 11:04.91 ... She finished ahead of junior teammate Kristina Myers, who was eighth in 11:18.70.
