No. 8 Women's Track & Field opens weekend on Day 1 of Midwest Track & Field Open and Findlay Classic and Elite Throws

ADA — The No. 8-ranked Ohio Northern women's track and field team opened its weekend as it competed in the Midwest Track & Field Open at the SPIRE Institute and the Findlay Classic and Elite Throws meets on Friday evening.
No team scores were kept at the meets.
At the Midwest Track & Field Open at the SPIRE Institute, junior Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) posted a seventh place finish in the 5,000-meter run in a career-fastest time of 18:11.99. Baumann was the only female athlete to represent Northern at the meet on Friday evening.
Junior Colleen Grainger (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley) competed during the first day of the Findlay Classic and Elite Throws meet and finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run in 19:36.80.
In the pole vault at the Findlay Classic, senior Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde) led a trio Polar Bears as she tied for sixth in the event with a vault of 11' 1.75".
Sophomores Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and Allison Stevens (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) finished 10th and 12th, respectively with leaps of 10' 8.00" and 10' 2.00".
The Polar Bears return to action tomorrow as junior Maddy Reed (Piketon) competes in the pole vault at Indiana University, junior Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) competes in the 800-meter run at the Midwest Track and Field Open and the rest of the team competes on day two of the Findlay Classic and Elite Throws.
