ADA — Senior Emily Richards has been named the Div. III United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Women's National Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 5.
The senior earned the honor for the first time this season and the third time in her career.
Richards competed at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Holiday Open where she shattered the school record in the women's 3,000-meter run indoors by 40.62 seconds.
She ran the second fastest time in Div. III history in the event on Friday evening and also posted the sixth fastest time among all divisions, including the NAIA in the event during the weekend.
The Polar Bears open the 2018 campaign on Jan. 20 as they travel to Berea to compete in the OAC Split Meet.
