Women's Track & Field lands eleven Academic All-OAC honorees

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team saw eleven members earn Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors for the 2017 season.
Seniors Nicole Huber (Findlay), Elizabeth Martin (Buckland/Wapakoneta), Meagan Ellinger (Wapakoneta), Rebecca Carman (Bellefontaine), juniors Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) and Mallory Weininger (Upper Sandusky), and sophomores Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta), Angie Sullivan (Medina), Kristina Myers (Orient/Central Crossing), Sydney McCluer (Columbus Grove), and Elizabeth Steele (Tempe, Ariz./Coronadellsol) all were named Academic All-OAC in 2017.
Huber, a Biology major, earns the honor for the third consecutive season.
The senior earned All-Conference honors in the 800-meter run at the outdoor OAC Championships after claiming second place and was a part of the outdoor OAC champion 4x800-meter relay team.
Huber also earned All-OAC honors during the indoor OAC Championships as a part of the DMR team that placed third.
Martin, an Exercise Physiology major, earned the honor for the first time in her career.
During the indoor and outdoor seasons, Martin has posted career-best times in the 800-meter run, 1,000-meter run, 1,500-meter run, 1-mile run and 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Ellinger, a Pharmacy major, earns the honor for the third consecutive season.
At the outdoor OAC Championships, Ellinger was part of the OAC champion 4x400-meter relay and also placed fifth as part of the 4x100-meter relay team.
At the indoor OAC Championships, Ellinger earned all-conference honors in the 400-meter dash after placing third and also earned All-Conference honors as part of the 4x400-meter relay team.
Carman, a Graphic Design major, was named Academic All-OAC for the second time in her career.
The senior earned All-OAC honors during the outdoor OAC Championships as she finished second in the 100-meter hurdles.
During the indoor OAC Championships, Carman was named All-OAC in the triple jump as she finished second in the event.
Richards, a Chemistry major, earns the honor for the second consecutive season.
The junior currently owns the fastest time nationally in the 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run. Richards was a 4-time OAC champion at the 2017 Outdoor OAC Championships and also was a 3-time OAC champion at the 2017 Indoor OAC Championships.
Richards currently owns the all-time Div. III record in the 800-meter run.
Weininger, a Civil Engineering major, earned the honor for the first time in her career.
The junior claimed fourth place in the high jump at the indoor OAC Championships and was part of the 4x200-meter relay team that placed fifth.
Fisher, a Pharmacy major, earned the honor for the first time in her career.
The sophomore sprinter earned All-OAC honors at the outdoor OAC Championships after finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles.
Fisher was also named All-OAC during the indoor meet in both the 500-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay.
Sullivan, a Civil Engineering major, was named Academic All-OAC for the first time in 2017.
The sophomore distance runner ran career-best times during the outdoor season in the 1,500 and 10,000-meter runs and also posted a career-fastest time of 11:37.75 in the 3,000-meter run during the 2017 indoor season.
Myers is a Biology major and earned the honor for the first time in her career.
The sophomore currently owns the second fastest time on the team in the 10,000-meter run and ranks third on the team in the 5,000-meter run.
McCluer, an Exercise Physiology major, was named Academic All-OAC for the first time in her career.
The sophomore sprinter has the third best time in the 400-meter hurdles on the team and also owns the fourth best time on the team this season in the 100-meter hurdles.
Steele, an Exercise Physiology major, earned the honor for the first time in her career.
Steele posted career-best times in the 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs during the 2017 outdoor season.
The sophomore also posted a career-best time in the 3,000-meter run during the indoor season.
Northern returns to the track this week as select members compete at the 2017 NCAA III Outdoor National Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
